How EV charging cost works
Energy added = battery capacity × (target % − start %). Chargers and the car's onboard electronics lose part of the energy as heat, so the energy you pay for is higher than what ends up in the battery. Losses depend on the charger, temperature and charging speed; enter your own figure if you know it.
Cost per mile = cost of the charge ÷ range added. Your public charger may also add session or per-minute fees, which are not included here.
